About Linden Consulting
About me:
My name is Ben. I grew up at a small co-educational college preparatory boarding school in Southern California. Both of my parents taught there, coached there, and worked in the dorms. I worked landscaping for this school growing up, attended as a student, and ended up teaching there myself. When I left, I was teaching Spanish, teaching Digital Arts (coding with p5.js, making art), coaching Ultimate Frisbee, coaching baseball, serving on the Technology Committee advising on our usage of educational technology, building every student’s schedule, and managing the entire school’s calendar. I love schools and education, and my background has taught me that there’s a ton of work behind the scenes.
About the name:
In the small town closest to this school, the main street is named “Linden Avenue”. When my wife and I moved to Vermont, we noticed we have a big Linden tree right in front of our house. My wife’s name also comes etymologically from the word for a grove of Linden trees. So, this name felt like a good reminder of where I am and where I come from, especially when I consider that many decision-making processes, including scheduling, can work like a “tree” (in the software sense, not the literal sense).
About the logo:
I drew the tree outside of our house by hand using pen on paper, then took a photo of it and uploaded it into Photoshop to edit it. In some places, I used the digital brushes to create a watercolor effect, where in others I just selected all my pen strokes and made them all white on a black background.
